RENEGADE TO STAGE OUT OF THE HAT AT THE TECHNOLOGY VILLAGE IN DOWNTOWN DULUTH

The next go-round for the Out of the Hat Plays will still be staged on Friday and Saturday, November 3 & 4 at 7pm in the Technology Village in downtown Duluth.  This high energy, intensely creative weekend features writers, actors and directors from Renegade Comedy Theatre, Colder by the Lake, the College of St. Scholastica, UMD Theatre, UWS Theatre, the Duluth Playhouse, and the surrounding arts community.  Eight writers select subjects randomly out of a hat and then have 12 hours to compose a 10-minute play using those elements.  At 8:30 the next morning, the directors draw their scripts and their casts randomly out of hats, and rehearsal begins.  At 7:00 that same night, the show is up and running with only the costumes, props and set pieces the participants could find during the day.

Some past Out of the Hat shows have included prompts like The Devil with a pineapple in church, Abbott and Costello with a stick of margerine in prison, and Mel Gibson with an iron maiden in City Councilor Don Ness' trunk.

Tickets for the Out of the Hat Plays are $15 for each night.  Special Two Night Passes are available for just $20.  Also, the Out of the Hat Plays are a Renegade Special Feature, which means no ticket specials or discount coupons will be valid.  The Out of the Hat Plays are sponsored by Pizza Luce.
